Second Wind Coffee House Mural by Talia Nat
This is my first mural project. I wanted to represent what Second Wind Coffee House means to the Norman community. At first, it was difficult to find a concept or even a word that I could start from. So I asked the baristas and the clients. I set up a paper with the prompt "Define Second Wind in one word." with a pen, and everyone wrote their word. Still, although this was a beautiful unifying activity, it made my brainstorming more complicated. So I just kept thinking. What separates Second Wind Coffee House from all other cafés in Norman? Everyone is welcome. Good! Welcome, now we have a word we can include. Then the blue cup came to mind, it's our signature cup. So instead of painting people welcoming each other or sharing a fun space, I personalized the cups. And... there it is! But it was somewhat empty, so I researched Oklahoma's national bird and flower to add a more local touch.
